Core to our democratic process is discussion and debate.
Governor Schwarzenegger now has to decide between his original Budget proposal to close 48 State Parks, the alternative Legislative Analyst's Office approach to raise park fees and keep the Parks open, or . By May 15 the Governor needs to submit a Revised 2008-09 Budget Bill, then the Sentate and Assembly will have their chance to discuss and debate. As citizens we influence this process in two primary ways: 1) voting to elect our representatives, and voting on propositions, referendums and measures, and 2) contacting our representatives to express our views on the topics they will be voting on. In the 2008-2009 Budget debate, right now is the time to contact the Governor and your State Legislators and express your concerns if you want to affect the outcome.

| | In this age of electronic communication I know there are many easy electronic ways to send comments and opinions in to our representatives. While I am happy that options exist, I also know that these electronic submissons have mostly become a "numbers game". Because we do need to play the "game", below are some links to websites that will allow you to be counted and submit letters / comments. I really hope that you will make a specific effort to contact your representatives directly using the information above, it is more likely that they will read it and remember it.
